Surface roughness and stainability of new-generation denture base materials after brushing and coffee thermocycling

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Disk-shaped specimens were prepared from additively (NX and DT), subtractively (MZ), conventionally manufactured denture base resins (CV). Surface roughness color coordinates measured after polishing, simulated brushing, coffee thermocycling, while surface was also before polishing. Polishing reduced the of all materials. Brushing thermocycling increased only DT. CV had highest susceptibility to consecutive brushing as it roughness, which above clinically acceptable threshold. All materials similar stainability; MZ perceptible change brushing. Even though stainability tested similar, or computer-aided design manufacturing (CAD-CAM) smoother surfaces regardless material. Therefore, complete dentures made out these CAD-CAM may have favorable properties in long term. Graphical abstract

Effect of denture cleansers on metal ion release and surface roughness of denture base materials.

Chemical disinfectants are usually associated with mechanical methods to remove stains and reduce biofilm formation. This study evaluated the effect of disinfectants on release of metal ions and surface roughness of commercially pure titanium, metal alloys, and heat-polymerized acrylic resin, simulating 180 immersion trials. Disk-shaped specimens were fabricated with commercially pure titanium ...

Changes in roughness of denture base and reline materials by chemical disinfection or microwave irradiation. Surface roughness of denture base and reline materials

OBJECTIVE The effect of disinfection by immersion in sodium perborate solution and microwave irradiation on surface roughness of one denture base resin (Lucitone 550 -L), 3 hard chairside reline resins (Tokuyama Rebase II-TR, New Truliner-NT, Ufi Gel hard-UH) and 3 resilient reline materials (Trusoft-T; Sofreliner-S, Dentusil-D) was evaluated. MATERIAL AND METHODS Thirty specimens of each mat...

Effect of Different Denture Cleansers on Surface Roughness of Denture Base Materials

Background and Aim: It has been commonly believed that, denture cleansers have detrimental effects on the surface structure of denture base materials. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects on surface roughness of 4 different commercially available chemical cleaning agents (Polident, Corega Tabs, Fittydent, Efferdent) and sodium hypochlorite on the denture base materials. Materia...

Effect of denture cleansers on color stability, surface roughness, and hardness of different denture base resins

AIM The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of different denture cleansers on the color stability, surface hardness, and roughness of different denture base resins. MATERIALS AND METHODS Three denture base resin materials (conventional heat cure resin, high impact resin, and polyamide denture base resin) were immersed for 180 days in commercially available two denture cleansers (...
